Rutherford Hill Merlot

Our 2012 Merlot is an elegantly refined blend of classic Bordeaux varietals that create a beautiful bouquet of rich aromas and prolonged flavors. Lavish cherry fruit flavors are backed by a rich, balanced structure for an intensely complex Merlot. Silky, full-flavored, firm, and built for today’s enjoyment, the wine finishes with smooth tannins and intricate layers of flavor on the palate.
“Structured in young tannins, this wine has a nice mélange of leather, blackberry, clove and black tea that provide substance and flavor, with additional savory specks of graphite. Light bodied and soft, the acidity behind the fruit suggests further aging, through 2020. Cellar Selection.” —Virginie Boone
"The 2012 Rutherford Hill from Napa Valley smelled like fresh raspberry jam spread on a nice warm piece of toast. The blend's 20 percent cabernet sauvignon and tiny amounts of syrah, cabernet franc and petit verdot add complexity, leading to a long peppery finish. There is a lot happening in this bottle." —The Chicago Tribune
