Visitation

What are the winery hours and tasting room availability?
Our tasting room is open daily from 10 AM to 5 PM. We encourage guests to check our website for any updates regarding holiday hours or special events that may affect our schedule.
 
Do I need a reservation for wine tasting at Rutherford Hill Winery?
Yes, reservations are highly recommended to ensure availability, especially on weekends and during peak travel seasons in Napa Valley. Reservations can be made directly on our website. Booking in advance allows us to prepare a personalized, relaxed tasting experience for you.

While we may accommodate limited walk-ins, availability is not guaranteed. We encourage guests to reserve their tasting experience ahead of time to secure their preferred experience and time.
 
What wine tasting experiences are offered at Rutherford Hill Winery?
Rutherford Hill Winery offers a range of elevated tasting experiences designed to showcase our estate wines and iconic hillside setting.

Guests can choose from:

What should I wear to a Napa Valley wine tasting?
Wine country style is best described as “elevated casual”—comfortable yet polished.

We recommend:
  • Lightweight, breathable clothing for warm Napa afternoons
  • Layers for cooler mornings and cave experiences
  • Comfortable footwear suitable for walking on gravel paths and terraces
Sunglasses and sun protection are also encouraged, especially for outdoor tastings with vineyard views.
 
How many wineries should I visit in one day in Napa Valley?
For the most enjoyable experience, we recommend visiting 2–3 wineries per day. This allows you to fully relax, savor each tasting, and enjoy the unique atmosphere of each property without feeling rushed.

Is Rutherford Hill Winery Family-friendly or pet-friendly?
Yes, the Valley Vista Terrace is pet and child friendly. While we strive to create a welcoming and relaxing environment for all guests. Policies regarding children and pets may vary by experience and seating area, so we recommend reviewing details at the time of booking or contacting our team in advance to plan accordingly.
 
What types of wines do you offer for tasting?
At Rutherford Hill, we offer a diverse selection of wines, including our acclaimed Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet Sauvignon. Guests can enjoy curated tasting flights that showcase our signature wines, allowing you to explore the unique flavors of our Napa Valley terroir.
 
Are there any special experiences or tours available?
Yes! We offer a variety of unique experiences, including a guided ATV tour through our estate vineyard. You will learn about our vineyard farming practices and winemaking process all while taking in the views of the Rutherford Bench. This 120-minute experience includes preferred seating in one of our limited Skyloft’s on our Terrace following the vineyard exploration.
 
What is the best way to plan my visit to Napa Valley for wine tasting?
To make the most of your visit, we recommend coming during the week for a quieter experience. Consider exploring nearby attractions and other wineries to enhance your trip. Don’t forget to check our website for any current promotions or events that may coincide with your visit!
 
What does the tasting experience include, and how long does it last?
Our tasting experience includes a selection of our finest wines, showcasing the unique terroir of Napa Valley. Each tasting lasts approximately 90 minutes, allowing you to savor and appreciate the flavors of our wines in a relaxed setting.
 
Is the tasting guided or self-paced, and how many wines are poured?
Our tastings are guided by knowledgeable staff who will walk you through each wine, sharing insights about the winemaking process. Guests can expect to taste 4-5 different wines during their visit, providing a comprehensive experience of our offerings.
 
Can tastings be shared or customized?
Tastings can be shared among guests, and we are happy to accommodate special requests to customize your experience.
 
How much does the tasting cost, and is the tasting fee waived with a wine purchase or club membership?
The cost of our tasting experiences varies by selection, starting at $75 per person. If you meet our minimum wine purchase requirements during your visit or are a member of our wine club, the tasting fee will be waived, making it a wonderful opportunity to enjoy our wines!
 
Do you require payment at booking or upon arrival, and what forms of payment do you accept?
Payment is required upon booking for your reservation. We accept all major credit cards.
 
Are gratuities included or expected, and is there a fee for non-tasters?
Gratuities are not included in the tasting fee but are appreciated for excellent service. There is no fee for non-tasters who wish to accompany their group of six or fewer guests.
 
What is the maximum group size per reservation, and can you accommodate large groups or private events?
We can accommodate groups of up to 8 guests per reservation. For larger groups or private events, please contact our Events Manager in advance to discuss your needs and ensure a memorable experience.
 
Is food included with the tasting experience, and can we purchase food on-site?
Cheese and charcuterie boards are available for purchase and/or included depending on your wine tasting experience booked.
 
May we bring our own food or picnic?
Outside food is permitted in certain areas of our property. We allow picnicking in our Upper Picnic Grove with minimum bottle purchase requirements. Outside food is not permitted on our Valley Vista Terrace or any area where active tasting experiences take place.
 
Is the winery ADA accessible, and are tastings seated or standing?
Yes, our winery is ADA accessible, ensuring everyone can enjoy our beautiful space. Tastings are typically seated, providing a comfortable environment to savor our wines.
 
Are the tasting experiences indoors or outdoors, and do you provide weather accommodations?
Our tastings are held in both indoor and outdoor settings, depending on the weather. We provide shade and heaters as needed to ensure your comfort during your visit.
 
What is your cancellation or rescheduling policy, and what happens in case of bad weather?
Cancellations or rescheduling must be made at least 24 hours in advance. In case of bad weather, we will work with you to reschedule your tasting to ensure a pleasant experience.
 
What is your policy on intoxication, and is there an age requirement to participate?
We prioritize safety and responsible drinking. Guests must be 21 years or older to participate in tastings, and we reserve the right to refuse service to those who appear intoxicated.
 
Are ride-share services accessible from the winery?
Yes, ride-share services are readily accessible from our winery, making it easy for you to plan your visit without worrying about transportation.
 

Wine Club

When do my benefits, including complimentary tastings, begin after I join the wine club?
Your club member benefits are activated after your first club shipment is processed. If you join the wine club onsite at the winery during a tasting, we will waive up to 4 tasting fees. You will be able to schedule future complimentary tastings after your membership is activated.
 
If I am a wine club member, how do I book a reservation?
After joining the club, members will be added to our TOCK database with the email address associated to the membership account. Members can use this account to book their own discounted tastings on TOCK. The tasting is complimentary for up to 4 guests. If a member is making a reservation for groups larger than 4 guests, fees correlated with the tasting experience being booked will apply to the additional guests above 4 people. If you would like booking assistance from our reservations team, you can also email club@rutherfordhill.com. You will need to provide the email address you used to join the club so your discount can be applied.
 
How do I customize my wine club shipment?

Can I gift a club membership?
Yes, please contact your membership manager here to discuss gift memberships.
 

Private Events

Do you host weddings?
No, unfortunately, Rutherford Hill Winery is not permitted to host wedding receptions or ceremonies.
 
Do you host rehearsal dinners?
Yes. We are happy to host meet and greets, welcome parties and rehearsal dinners. Contact our Events Manager to learn more.
 
Are you able to host both indoor and outdoor experiences?
Yes, weather permitting, we can host both outdoor and indoor events.
 
I am not seeing an experience that fits my needs – are you able to create a custom event?
Yes. Our Events Manager is happy to connect with you to create a memorable, one-of-a-kind event.
 
Can I host a private event at the winery?
Yes, we have a private event program available to those who inquire. Please contact our Events Manager for all group requests of 9 people or larger.
 

Orders & Shipping

Can we purchase wine after the tasting, and do you ship wine to other states?
Absolutely! Guests can purchase wine after their tasting experience. We also offer shipping to several states, making it easy to enjoy Rutherford Hill wines at home. Our wines can be shipped to all states except the following: Alabama, Arkansas, Delaware, Indiana, Mississippi, Rhode Island, and Utah.
 
Are discounts available for wine club members, and can we join the wine club during our visit?
Yes, wine club members receive exclusive discounts on purchases. We recommend joining our wine club during your visit and enjoy the immediate benefits!
 
Where is my order?
Once we receive your order, processing and handling can sometimes take up to two business days. Once your package ships, you will receive an email confirmation with tracking number.

Please note: When an order ships via ground shipping, there is no guaranteed delivery date and deliveries may be delayed. Thank you for your ongoing patience.
 
Can you ship your wines internationally?
No. Unfortunately, we are only able to ship and deliver to US addresses.
 
Where do you ship?
Our wines can be shipped to all states except the following: Alabama, Arkansas, Delaware, Indiana, Mississippi, Rhode Island, and Utah.
 
Do you honor your online special offerings onsite at the Winery?
Yes. We are happy to honor all online special offerings during your onsite visit.
 
Why doesn’t my tracking number work? (It isn’t updating.)
For most states, you will get your tracking number in your ship confirmation email as soon as your wine leaves our warehouse. At times, a tracking number is live but does not show activity yet. As soon as the package is scanned by the common carrier, the progress will update. If you have further questions, please contact Customer Care and include your order number for an update.
 
What days do you ship?
We currently ship Monday - Friday. We are currently unable to facilitate weekend deliveries. Please note that our Shipping Cut-off is 4pm PT. Orders received after this time will be processed the next business day and will ship accordingly. Typically, only business days are used to calculate transit time, so please select a future ship date at check out to avoid additional transit time over weekends.
 
What are the options for hot or cold weather shipping?
Wine does not like extreme temperatures. Hot humid summer and cold winter weather may adversely affect the condition of your wine during shipment. When your wine order is picked up by the common carrier for delivery, responsibility for the wine transfers to the purchaser. No insurance for heat or cold damage is provided by the shipper. We are not responsible for and will not replace wine that is damaged by extreme weather conditions during shipment. All shipments will ship using the method selected during checkout. We highly encourage expedited shipping during extreme temperatures or in the event that you need your wine by a certain date. During summer months, we have identified AZ, CA, CO, FL, GA, KY, NC, NM, NV, SC, TN, and TX as states that where shipments would benefit from one of the ice pack shipping methods. Upon request, we can hold your shipment until weather patterns change. Please contact Customer Care immediately with your order number.
 
What are the holiday shipping cutoffs?
Make sure your wines and/or gifts get there in time for the holidays. We recommend allowing at least 2 weeks for delivery during major holiday windows.
 
What’s Our Shipping Policy?
All wine sales are final. The final mile carrier (UPS or FedEx) will make up to 3 delivery attempts, requiring an adult 21 years or older to sign for the package. You can expect your delivery in a few days, so please use an address where someone over 21 will be present to sign. Expedited packages are only delivered Monday through Friday. Missed delivery attempts could also result in compromising the quality of the wine. Wine purchases are not refundable. We highly recommend you ship to a business address where an adult 21 or older is available to sign for your delivery. We support both UPS and FEDEX for delivery. Should you select FEDEX as your preferred shipper, you also have the option to ship to a FedEx Office Print & Ship Center or request a redirect to a Walgreens near you to ensure fast and safe delivery. Find a FedEx ‘Hold at Location’ near you or your gift recipient.
 
What if I missed the delivery attempts and my wine gets returned to you?
In the unfortunate circumstance that your order is returned to our warehouse, please contact Customer Care for further assistance. Refunds are not issued and reshipment fees are the responsibility of the consumer.
 
Are your wines sold in my area? Where can I purchase them?
Some Rutherford Hill wines are sold locally and throughout the US. For a location near you please try our online wine finder. For access to our full library of wines you would need to visit Chimney Rock Winery or purchase from our online store.
