"Terlato has mastered the art of crafting Bordeaux-style red wines that scream Napa Valley. The style is the modern one of exceptional ripeness, softness and sweetness, generously oaked and slightly high in alcohol. Here, you'll find deep flavors of blackberries, mocha, black currants, olives and toast. It's ready to drink now, and should develop in the bottle for at least 10 more years."
The pinnacle wine for Terlato Vineyards, EPISODE stands shoulder to shoulder with the very best Bordeaux Blends in the world. The Terlato family makes this Bordeaux blend of classic varietals from the best Napa Valley fruit. Made with a focus on quality from select fruit that meets the highest standards, EPISODE stands out as truly elegant wine—a classic. EPISODE is crafted in limited quantities, a mere 17 barrels in 2010, a vintage with offered distinctive fruit with incredible aging potential.
Harvest Notes: Lauded as one of Napa Valley’s top vintages, the 2010 growing season started late with spring rains delaying bud break and a cool summer delaying veraison. Thankfully, a long Indian summer pushed harvest well into October and the berries came to the winery with a beautiful balance of acidity and ripeness, with the complexity that long, slow ripening allows. EPISODE 2010 was fermented in small lots in stainless steel tanks with daily pumpovers for robust extraction of the fruit. After fermentation, the wine spent an additional four weeks on the skins to further increase the intensity of flavor and structure. Aging took place in 100% new French oak for 21 months and aged an additional 14 months in bottle prior to release.
Tasting Notes: It bursts from the glass with intense aromas of blackberry, blueberry and cassis with a hint of vanilla, nutmeg, and caramel. On the palate, the texture is silky smooth with layered flavors of black fruit and dark chocolate. EPISODE is mouthfilling and robust with a structure that promises long aging potential.
For those opening EPISODE 2010 soon after release, we suggest decanting for 20 hours prior to serving to allow the layers of complexity to reveal themselves.
