Rutherford Hill Sangiovese
Sangiovese is one of the top two red grapes in Italy, where it’s extensively planted in Tuscany and serves as the core of the famous wines of the Chianti region. Sangiovese was brought to California by Italian immigrants, many of whom settled in the Napa Valley. When planted in the right areas and grown skillfully, this grape thrives here and can yield wonderful wines - as on our estate vineyard in northeastern Napa Valley. Bold aromatics of raspberry and plum greet you and lead to ripe flavors hitched to a balanced, food-friendly acidity. When you consider the Italian heritage of our family ownership, Sangiovese is a natural wine for us to produce.
